When gem cutter Theb discovers a strange crystal with extraordinary power, he begins to dream of a woman, calling for help from a distant island. He isn’t the only one—a reformed wizard, a former thief, and an old enemy also hear the voice.

Far away, the exiled scientist Ran-dahl is struggling to find the truth behind the impenetrable fog threatening her island. As fear and religious fanaticism endanger her pursuit of knowledge, she calls out to anyone who will listen: Follow the crystal.

Resurrecting a ship once used by the Great Council of wizards, Theb and his companions embark on a quest to find the voice. Braving rough seas and an uncertain future, they follow the crystal’s glow—because as dangerous as their journey will be, they are the only hope of restoring what has been lost.
